Position Outline
Tim du Toit & Co Incorporated is a leading law firm and authority on commercial litigation and property law in South Africa, specialising in the corporate and financial services industries. The firm has an exciting opportunity for a Litigation Secretary at their Pretoria offices based in Lynnwood. Applicants who meet ALL the minimum requirements are encouraged to apply:
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12.
- Related tertiary qualifications highly beneficial (Legal Secretarial N4-N6 or a related National Diploma)
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience working in a commercial litigation department (including administrative duties related thereto)
- Must have experience in general litigation processes and protocols
- Must have experience working with court and online systems (Caselines/Court Online/Windeed/CIPC)
- Must be able to type and do dictaphone typing (above 60 words per minute)
- Experience with FICA requirements and Lexpro Bookkeeping System highly beneficial
- Computer literate (Full proficiency and ability to utilise and operate all suites of Microsoft Office)
- Must be a South African citizen
Operational Requirements:
- Preferably resides in Pretoria
- Recommended Competencies/Skills, inter alia:
- Strong communication skills (Written and Verbal)
- Diplomatic and professional when dealing with clients, service providers and staff
- Conscientious with a strong focus on quality and attention to detail
- Meticulous and organized – able to plan & multi-task
- Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Able to meet deadlines and be flexible
- Dedicated, reliable, ethical and honest
Key responsibilities, inter alia, include:
- Provide secretarial and administrative support to Attorneys in commercia/litigation department
- Preparation, formatting and compilation of pleadings, affidavits, memoranda, correspondences and bills of costs
- Opening of files and debiting of fees on Lexpro
- Schedule and set up appointments, client meetings and virtual meetings, court hearings or appearances.
- Transcribe and proofread legal documents and pleadings
- Type letters, affidavits, pleadings, bills of costs, legal opinions and documents
- Complete Dictaphone typing speedily and accurately
- Debit fees, generate or process invoices and bill clients
